Anonymous & Open-ID Egg Donations in San Diego
At Asian Egg Bank, most egg donors are non-identifying (anonymous), meaning they are donating their egg to any couple that may be a match and has selected them based on the results of their screening process. As an anonymous donor, your name and other personal identifying information will be kept confidential and you will not meet with the people receiving the donation unless both parties desire to do so.
Open-ID donors are similar to non-identifying donors, meaning their names and other personal identifying information hidden throughout the donation process. However, the donor has agreed to disclose her identity to any child conceived via assisted reproduction with her donated eggs, on request, once the child attains eighteen (18) years of age.
Regardless of whether you are a non-identifying or Open-ID, an attorney can review the rights you do and do not have as a donor before the donation takes place. We cover all costs pertaining to attorney fees for donors.
Fresh Matched & Frozen Banking Donations
You can choose to donate a fresh or frozen egg. Whichever option you choose will determine how the donation proceeds.
- Fresh (matched) Donation – Donating a fresh egg is often the more time consuming process. Since your egg will not be frozen, you must wait to perform the egg retrieval until someone looking for a donation matches with you. This could take anywhere from a few months to a few years.
- Frozen Banking Donation – This donation stores your egg for use later. This means you can donate your egg within a few weeks of passing the medical screening process. Your egg could also end up being shipped anywhere in which there is a suitable candidate.
Which donation is right to for you is completely up to you. If you are interested in donating a fresh egg but are worried about how long you will have to wait, our staff may be able to give you an estimate on how likely you are to match with someone based on your qualifications.
